The Western Suburbs District was originally formed in 1980 by “Taxi” Brian of the Melton group, who served as its first District Committee Member (DCM).
After a period of inactivity, the District has been active again since early 2024 and continues to grow in strength. It currently includes groups spanning from Williamstown to Werribee, with active participation and a strong service focus.
The District supports AA’s Third Legacy and Twelfth Step work across Melbourne’s western suburbs. Current portfolios include:
- Hospitals & Institutions (H&I) – coordinating multiple detox and rehab roster nights each week across facilities in the region.
- Public Information and Professional Awareness (PIPA) – undertaking outreach activities within the wider community and providing information to professionals who may come into contact with AA.
District committee meetings are held every two months, and all GSRs and AA members are welcome to attend and observe. The District welcomes those interested in service and is always looking to expand participation.
